As a physician and artist it is important to
create the most beautiful and natural facial
appearance possible. Therefore I limit my work
to the facial region from the neck up. Accordingly,
I only perform one facelift per day. I feel
it's imperative to spend a considerable amount
of time with each patient to ensure the patient
achieves the maximum results for looking and
feeling his/her best.
The healing time with this new procedure is
much less than the older surgeries. A patient
may be comfortable in public after only 10-14
days. After only one month the patient will
appear perfect in public.
The older techniques often resulted in unusual
appearances and periodic scarring. This often
caused lines in strange places where the skin
had to be pulled abnormally tightly over the
surface. The new and fresh approach goes deeper
into the facial plane, a tissue area that is
a thicker foundation and one that has no pain
receptors immediately attached. Therefore the
results of the Deep-Plane Facelift are breathtaking
in their youthfulness and naturalness.
The
reason my work is natural looking is because
it is superficially subtle while the work itself
is deep.
The
tension is deep and not seen. There is no tension
on the surface - so it does not have a pulled
look.
There
are no pain fibers down deep. The pain receptors
are superficial. Therefore, it is not painful
in the way in which the older technique was
because the pulling is not primarily on the
upper surface.
The deep tissue layer that is being tightened
is thicker, stronger and will not loosen quickly
like the previous generations of facelifts that
were skin-based. In the older method, the effects
deteriorated rapidly as the skin began to sag
due to gravity. The new deeper technique will
not stretch out like the outer surface skin
does.
I am often asked to work on patients who have
had previous surgeries in which the surgeon
used the older method(s). Even the removal of
keloid scars and corrections of older procedures
can create a new fresher look. I use meticulous
hand sewing and the finest needles available
to prevent visible scarring. This meticulous
handwork prevents bunching and results in making
the incision(s) virtually invisible.

All of my clients embody sophisticated
lifestyles. After working with me, each
develops a comprehensive understanding
of cosmetic surgery and further understands
why the Deep-Plane Facelift is the most
beneficial surgical procedure.
Why is it necessary for all of us to
have Cosmetic Surgery at some point
in our lives? Gravity is the primary
reason that causes differences in the
appearance of the face. With the laser,
you can remove fine lines and enhance
the appearance, but it does not correct
the effects of gravity. Although a laser
can be used in conjunction with the
facelift, you still must have the facelift
to properly correct the effects of the
gravitational pull.

Gravity pulls the skin into a vector that can
result in a jowl and saggy neck. It is not an
issue of looking bad, it is the subtle effect
gravity has in the 30's and early 40's, which
obviously becomes more pronounced over time.
We begin to experience profound effects of gravity
when we get into our 50's. By the 70's it has
often taken over unless we have taken care of
these effects earlier in our lives. Many surgeons
have used different techniques to correct the
effects of gravity such as surgically inserting
Gore-Tex and other materials into the body instead
of removing the effects of gravity. This results
in pulled or red looking faces instead of the
natural look, which is the facelift I perform
and have perfected.
The ideal age for a first facelift is between
38 and 43. It takes a patient back into their
early 30's. If you come with subtle changes,
then your facial changes will be subtle. The
result of the facelift appears as radiant youthfulness.
Some of us only need subtle work, while others
need more profound work. The goal is to get
back to a v-look versus the oval look of the
50's by using the best techniques of gravity
reduction. I do not suction fat out of the face
or inject fat into the face.
My goal is to find out what is important to
you. It must make sense for you and your lifestyle.
Your genes and lifestyle will determine the
best changes for you. When your skin is pulled
tight, it will eventually begin to distort and
sag again. The new style offers the best technique
in correcting the tissue found in the deeper
facial plane. I am not just pulling the outer
surface abnormally tight, I fix the deep tissues,
which is why this procedure is far more effective.
Hence the surface skin is anchored to the deeper
tissue, which positions it in appropriate alignment
resulting in a more natural overall appearance.
Even with the effects of gravity and a ton of
fine lines, you can have spectacular results.
Traditionalists often performed a brow lift
to give the most noticeable effect. While I
do perform brow lifts, the idea is to create
a face that does not have a surprised look.
In other words, the brows do not have to be
lifted so high you end up with a surprised look;
they can be lifted naturally. I concentrate
on the full effects of the facelift including
natural brows, upper and lower lids and, if
necessary, building out the chin, etc.
Many people are often worried about the effects
of anesthesia - including feeling ill or dizzy
afterwards. I work with the best Yale-trained
anesthesiologists who make the procedure a pleasure
for my patients. They do not use medications
that will result in great discomfort later but
focus on the wellness effects. After surgery,
most patients only take extra strength Tylenol
even when stronger medications are available.
In closing, a good facelift does not give itself
away. It's amazing how many of my patients are
never asked if they have had reconstructive
surgery. Instead they are asked what spa they
went to, what new diet they are on, what exercise
regime have they changed to, etc. The effects
of the Deep-Plane Facelift are truly remarkable
in creating the most natural and rejuvenated
facial appearance. It's the only procedure which
successfully brings the patient back to a more
youthful state while properly correcting the
adverse effects which gravity inherently has
on the face.
